L.A. Valley College Tree Report

As part of SWA’s team creating a master plan for Los Angeles Valley College, PGA provided an historic context for understanding how the campus and its urban forest had evolved. We studied more than 600 trees, mapping the location and condition of each species. In the process we identified issues created by a tree canopy of uniform age, which will be solved in the new master plan.

PGA also called attention to courtyards that had originally been planted as teaching areas, and helped the college appreciate the value of certain species, such as disease-resistant pines that had previously been overlooked.
