William Land Park Historic Study

PGA teamed with Mead & Hunt in preparing a cultural landscape survey to identify the significance of historic amenities in the park. PGA surveyed hundreds of heritage trees on the 236-acre site, along with WPA-era features such as a stone pergola, the Swanston Memorial, three man-made ponds and dozens of picnic areas.

PGA summarized our collection of field data in a matrix that keys each feature to an aerial site plan. Our report provides the city with an enhanced understanding of the park’s heritage that will guide the future treatment of its resources.
